Operator in Extrusion

This role will require working as part of the team to ensure smooth, safe, and economical running of the department.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To assist the extrusion operators in, running machines, suppling feed materials, cover breaks, as and when requested to do so.
  • To ensure the extrusion department is kept clean and tidy at all times thus maintaining good housekeeping, hygiene and a safe working area for all.
  • To undergo further/additional training as and when required so as to perform their respective duties safely and efficiently.
  • To ensure that the correct material is granulated in the granulator allocated to it. Ensure that there is no cross-contamination from other materials.
  • To ensure that all items are passed for granulating, weighed and recorded correctly before processing.
  • To ensure that only designated waste materials are granulated and that no foreign bodies are included thus causing contamination.
  • Ensure all returned cages/containers are cleaned of previous materials before presenting to Production.
  • To ensure that items leaving the department are correctly identified, labelled, wrapped and stored in their correct locations.
  • To clean down granulators when directed in a safe and thorough manner.
  • To report any defects or problems with the equipment or premises to the Shift Manager or other Senior Management.
  • To report any accidents or incidents of near misses according to Company procedure
  • Not to interfere with, misuse or willfully damage any property belonging to the company or provided to the employee.
  • Take all reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions at work.
  • Comply with procedures and co-operate with management in carrying out their work safely and without risk to themselves or others.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained;
  • Abide by the company’s environmental and quality management procedures;
  • Carry out any reasonable duties if requested that are within your abilities, irrespective of grade/skill level.

Person Specification

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent attention of filling out and looking at paperwork
  • Good knowledge of computer skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Understanding of the Manufacturing industry and core processes
Desirable: Forklift Licence
This role is on a 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern working 12 hours per day.
